8 Months: Losing Weight, Trying New Foods & Chatter

This is a very belated Toby turned 8 months post! In fact he's going to be 9 months in another week! But we had an eventful 8th month with our Little Mitchell Man so here's the update! The month was filled with lots of scooting, eating, cuddling and attempts to pet the pups! This month he actually lost weight (18.7lbs), which was no good, but it has to be pretty common when you are trying new foods and finding the balance of it all. Not to mention he's moving around like crazy! By 8 months he hadn't started to crawl yet but he was definitely trying.
He's such a sweetie pie and we love him more and more - which I think will never stop! He's mostly smiles, giggles and chatter right now. He loves to give hugs and kisses - which is done by grabbing your face and putting it against his open mouth! Its so ridiculous and sweet.  (Which is what he is doing to his Auntie Amanda in this picture ---->)
When I'm putting him down to sleep at night, he'll snuggle his face right next to mine, rub my face and then he's ready for sleep. It's seriously the best part of my day.

His sleep, eat & play patterns are all settling in - and he's becoming more flexible/adaptable when things change. For instance, after church every week he's sacked out in the car for his afternoon nap. He sleeps very well overnight, waking up once around 2/3am or sleeping all the way through the night. When he's not sleeping, he's all about playtime now and it's so fun. He is so curious, turns things over and wants to discover everything. Our favorite times with him are rolling around on the floor, peek-a-boo and all the toys that make noise! He's even started to pull himself up on his own.

We took him to the Strawberry Festival this month. Tested out the umbrella stroller for the first time and it was pretty great. Had room for him and his gear but wasn't so big and bulky that it took up all the room. We wore him for most of the afternoon and he was memorized by all the rides, people and noise. We of course ate corn dogs, lemonade, blooming oinions and strawberry shortcake! We even watched a show - a guy that does magic out of all recycled things. It put little man to sleep so he missed out on the shortcake.

He still makes the craziest faces - happy, mad, sad - they are all cute!

The first picture of the blog and this little cute one are from our friends, Melissa & Steve's Gender Reveal party! Dustin & Toby were team blue, hoping for a boy but I was among the winning crew going team pink! They are expecting their first child, little Miss Amelia (I think that's right- my baby brain may be deceiving me) around the same time Toby was born! It was such a fun party and definitely a new chapter in their lives. People with kids & those without all mingling to celebrate our favorite couple! Toby made some new friends as did we with the families in the living room. We got to spend time with little Porter, our friend Heather's son - he brought all the fun toys. I can't wait to meet their little girl and in what will probably be another blog post. . . it will be great to have another friend with a baby!

Toby's favorite thing is to play with Daddy! Giving him raspberries, flying through the air, watching cartoons, pretending to play video games and playing with all the toys. Dustin is definitely going to be the risk-taker one while I'm already like. . . "Be careful!!" God help me. But the way Toby laughs and smiles at Dustin is just the best! It's so fun to think about him growing up with Dustin, going camping, probably doing Boy Scouts and pal-ing around together.

He can also thank his dad for the new foods and tastes of his food that he gets. We haven't found a food that Toby won't eat or that gives his stomach problems. In fact he even had a cheese puff (cheeto) this month from Mrs. Becky! His pediatrician told us to double up on milk & food so he's now up to a cup of food at breakfast, lunch & dinner. Plus he has juice (once per day), water and milk (5-7 times a day). We got him a high chair and he loves its - its like his little throne. LOL. He's now eaten - sweet potato, red potato, ground turkey, green beans, zucchini, yellow squash, watermelon, brown rice, oats, bananas, peas, apple sauce and probably more. And he's going to be trying out ground beef, cantaloupe and so much more this coming week!

We are SO BLESSED to have spent the last 8 months with Little Mitchell Man! I can already tell that he's going to be a smart and compassionate boy - just like his daddy - and he probably definitely has some of our stubbornness mixed in there too. Regardless, he's a joy to our lives!
HAPPY 8 MONTHS TOBY!
