So we now have a 4 and a half month old baby! It's crazy!! Time seems to be flying by now that I'm back into work but we are still soaking in every moment with our Little Mitchell Man. I LOVE picking him up from daycare every day. Just hugging and snuggling him all weekend is the best time spent. So in our last month we were in a honeymoon period with LMM. He was through his growth spurts and was sleeping well. We've now hit into teething which is a real bear. Poor baby, there's nothing worse knowing that he's hurting. But we've got a good bag of tricks in the form of teething toys and homeopathic meds to help sooth LMM.
This past month he has been charming us all with his big smiles (and beautiful dimples), sticking his tounge out and rolling around. He had a Thanksgiving performance at school for which he was a turkey. Turned out he was a sleeping turkey on stage. Cutest thing ever!! The other children sang songs and danced around and he literally slept through all of it. They say he's a great sleeper at daycare and he's made quite a few little buddies. He's really adjusted well and I'm so happy that he goes to daycare. They are like having another set of eyes on him as he develops. It's great to have someone else say things like,"Hey looks like he's going through a growth spurt." It takes a village is so true. I love the little village we are building.
He's now graduated from his activity mat and is now into a jumper and a bumbo. Lots of bouncing going on and looking around at the world around him. I think he's starting to know his name because he'll look at us when we call him. Dustin is loving tickling him and making him squeal with laughter. It's all just too cute! He's so curious about the world and it's fun to watch him learning new things. He's getting so great at grabbing things and is watching what we are doing more and more. Oh! And he's starting to grow more light blonde hair. Can't wait to see how that turns out. Looks like he also will be keeping his blue eyes. *Knock on wood*
LMM was also baptized this month. It was such a special day of us to share with TONS of our family and friends. It was so so so meaningful to us that they all gathered at our little church to celebrate our boy. I think we increased the church's attendance by 30% with just our posse. Amanda made his baptism outfit. It was so cute and had a little blue vest. He had on little white socks and no shoes. . . white shoes are like $13. . . I don't think so. LOL he was cute with no shoes! We are blessed to have Kathy & Lary Hershelman as his god parents. They have always been such supportive and caring people in our lives. Lary agreed as long as he can always call him "Tobias" by his full name. The Hershelman's are the kind of caring, generous and authentic friends everyone hopes to have. We are so blessed to have them in our life and glad to have them as LMM's god parents.
Here's the video from the baptism. You can't hear it but when Peter put the water on Toby's head, he filled his diaper up! It was hilarious! I love how much he stares at Peter when he's talking. Side note, purchasing a really nice camera is one of the best things we did before he got here. Dustin had great foresight in that. We have used this camera, literally every day. I'm a little obsessed with capturing every moment. After the baptism the church had a small reception for us and then we all went out to Capital Tacos for lunch. The night before we had a bonfire for everyone who was from out of town so we could spend time with everyone as much as possible. We have the best friends and family; we are truly blessed.
Both Grandma's with their new babies.
Come on Mom! This is dad & LMM time!
On Thanksgiving, LMM hung out with Dustin in the morning and watched the Macy's day parade. Then after a nap and mom getting off of work (and home from the family volunteering at Metro) - we met up with the Mitchell's for Thanksgiving dinner. Only a few were camping this year but we joined them and Toby had his first bonfire. He was such a cute one! Look at that belly! He passed out at the bonfire and slept a good few hours wrapped up in a blanket.
That's the 4th month in a nutshell. It's been a busy blur of fun memories, sleepless nights and lots of snuggles. Still can't imagine life without our Little Mitchell Man. Such a sweetie pie.
Today our Little Mitchell Man (LMM) is 4 weeks old! We have managed to keep him healthy and relatively happy for a whole month! We didn't kill him, he didn't kill us..... Though some nights I thought would never end! This is from August 7th, 4 days old.... A very late night feeding. The past 4 weeks he has gained 2+lbs and 2in for a grand total of 10lbs 14oz and 23in long. He has the sweetest little face that we fall in love with every day. Even when he cries it's so cute. He definitely has a Craig face, with my facial expressions! He has long fingers and toes like his dad. His skin is so soft and his hair is so fluffy after a bath. But quickly gets slicked down with the heat, poor thing is always on the warm side -which he gets from me - but it's better for him to be warm than cold. Some of my favorite expressions of his.... Sleepy, angry and alert! He just lives in his diapers all day. And we put on his cute little clothes when we go out. He's...
I've decided to do a list of 35 things to do before my 35 birthday (10/14/2018). And I wanted to share it because some of you are really good cooks, work for or love local organizations I can attend or volunteer at, or have a book I should read. Part of this journey will be to live in community more so I would love your help and companionship as I map out 35 things to do this year. Some of these things I will do for the first time like paddle boarding or kyaking in the ocean but others are things that I don't do enough like going to shows or running. Drink a vintage wine. DONE Make a hollandaise sauce. Stretch goal, make all the mother sauces. Take a cooking class. Make 1 new/challenging/exotic dish a month. Restart clean eating by doing it for 1 month. DONE Learn to make bread. Grow watermelon. Try a summer CSA. Make bacon! Make an Italian Easter bread . See a show/movie at the Tampa Theatre. Volunteer 35 hours to organizations i...
