5 Months: Teething, Turning Over & Toes!

On Dec 21 Little Mitchell Man turned 5 months old! He's about 18lbs. Time is definitely flying by between the holidays, work and life with him. Every month he becomes more and more fun! Every month he feels like he has been around and apart of our family forever. I can't imagine life without him! It's been a month filled with new developments, personality and joy!

First, he discovered his feet! He started by grabbing them every time we changed his diaper, which is really very helpful of him. Then he moved to bringing them up to his mouth and now he is sucking on his toes. It's the silliest thing I think he does. He's also become very aware of his surroundings. He will watch the dogs play around the house, and has even begun to reach for them. He's managed to pet both of them, which leaves them running in fear. Just they wait til he's mobile! He can also see Dustin & I from pretty far across the house and will watch us walk around or cooking in the kitchen. And then there's the TV - he's discovered a love for all things with screens! It's so funny - he just loves trying to watch TV or looking at Dustin's computer screen. He's going to be a tech-y for sure! He also loved looking at the Christmas tree!

This month we created homemade Christmas gifts for our family and some friends. We put kid-friendly, glitter paint on LMM's feet and pressed them on mats. We put everything together and included a picture of him and them. So far, they have been a big hit! It was so much fun to make them all too. He was very interested in the texture of the paint and of course, the taste. By far, this was one of my favorite things to do with Toby so far. So much fun!!

Little Mitchell Man is LOVING his jumper and spends more time playing with his toys. We are still using the swing frequently. Especially on those cranky, fussy, teething days. He's had a bit of a rough time with his teeth but we can see two bottom teeth poking out and think we feel another up top getting ready to come through. This baby is so fast-tracking everything! But he's still sleeping very well, he doesn't sleep through the night but he's on a pretty consistent pattern and will wake up once a night. Something I'm definitely OK with. In fact, most nights during the work week I will fall asleep while feeding him and wake up to a sleeping baby on my lap. He's nestled into the boppy pillow and I'm leaning back in the rocker. It's so funny. At least we are sleeping! It's such a special quiet time that we get together. I'll never have this time with him again so I treasure these moments and drink light coffee in the morning, after he's had his breakfast. Somewhere in this fifth month he also got his first cold. It was VERY mild and just made him sleep more and have a snotty nose.

He can now turn over and flip back and forth between his belly and his back. It's like he's always done it! But sometimes he gets stuck in the corner of his crib and can't flip over. It's the silliest thing.

He continues to have lots of vistors, including his Auntie Jera and Uncle Scott. We FINALLY captured pictures of their visit. And it's easy to see that everyone was in love.

I can go on and on about how much love we have for this smiley, little, squishy, happy boy! He has brought so much joy into our life in such a short amount of time. Every day we look forward to what new adventure he will take us on and what new part of the world he will discover. His smiles, laughter and tears all make our hearts swell with love!

HAPPY 5 MONTHS, LITTLE MITCHELL MAN!
