Our First Family Vacation: Foshee Lake House in GA
In March we took our first family vacation. Our awesome friend Brian invited us all to his family's lake house in Georgia. We nervously accepted the invitation, so unsure of how Little Mitchell Man would do - traveling by car, sleeping in a new place. . . there were so many possible things that could upset him - his ever expanding teeth, growth spurts, etc, etc. But it turned out to be an amazing weekend!! We had so much fun, relaxed and got to spend some meaningful quality time with our best friends.
When traveling with a baby, bring lots of toys for the car, make sure to leave EARLY in the morning so that the afternoon fussies don't catch up to him and be ready to take lots of rest stops. We packed up, what felt like almost everything he owns and headed out in the morning. After a couple stops to feed him, have lunch and feed him again we made it to the lake house! Thankfully the trip was only 4 hours, I'm really not sure that he would've been able to go longer than that - on the way back home we left later in the morning and hit major traffic. . . .that plus two teeth coming in resulting in a serious melt down. . . for baby and for us!
We are so grateful to our friends, none of which have kids, for letting us bringing Toby with us. Thankfully, Brian's sister has a toddler so the lake house was stocked up with all the baby necessities. The weekend turned out to be such a relaxing few days with lots of playtime & snuggles with Toby.
Most of the weekend was spent relaxing on the dock. We would watch Miss Daisy swim and catch up on each other's lives. It was pretty chilly so no one swam but the weather was perfect for sitting on the dock and talking. Toby loved playing in the pack 'n play, wanted to pet Daisy all the time and then took naps in the Tula. We all pretty much sat, laid, hung around talking & eating our way through the weekend.
It was perfect.
The best part of the lake is definitely the sunsets. Such a beautiful explosion of color and it's always so peaceful. It's the perfect end to every, relaxing day up there.
There's nothing better than sharing a weekend like this, catching up with friends, playing board games and eating too much good food! We are so grateful for the Foshee's for sharing their house with us, our friends for including us (even with a baby in tow) and the time we got to spend with everyone. We'll never forget our first family vacation - so glad it was with you all.
