Happy Halloween & more!

This was my first week back to work and Little Mitchell Man's first week of daycare. I have to say that the week was easier than I expected. I'm so glad that he is at the Early Learning Academy at our church - I really don't find myself worrying about him during the day. . . just in the evenings when I see that he didn't eat as much as he should. When we change things up on him, he seems to eat less so this isn't totally out of the norm . . . I'm just a worrisome mom. I'm sure he will eat more this week. So at the ELA he hates his tummy time (ha!), has been taking good naps, helped carve a pumpkin and watched Charlie Brown Halloween. He has a classmate, Parker who he is about the same size as but Parker is a few months older. LOL that chubby baby. His teacher's is Kory, she's a very sweet young girl. Even though I wasn't planning to use a daycare, I'm so glad we have the ELA. I feel like he'll settle in just fine and the staff & other kids will become like his family. The absolute best part about it is picking him up and seeing that HUGE, silly, sweet Toby smile when he knows I'm there. Melts my heart!

"The Haunted House"
For his first Halloween, Toby was dressed as Captain America! We had planned to use a onesie that his Auntie & Uncle Moore got him that had the CA shield on it but he outgrew that! So I cut the shield out and sewed it on a baby glove, found a cute "Captain Adorable" onesie and sewed a cape on to that! Mom and Amanda came over and we went trick 'r treating in our neighborhood. It was so much fun for the neighbors to meet Toby and to get to know everyone more. There were kids all over our neighborhood. I'm so glad we live here! Toby got to go into his first "haunted house" that one of our neighbors made in their garage. It was actually really scary . . . as I screamed twice when people jumped out at us. Since everyone loves a cute baby, we made out with some sweet loot - literally! And on our way back to the house, little one crashed! He was so sleepy! No candy for you baby! I have to say that I'm really enjoying seeing life through a child's eyes. And I can't wait until he really understands what's going on around him. For now, we'll just enjoy being kids again!








Then today we celebrated Mom's birthday by going out to Sweetfield Farms and Cony Island Hot Dogs. We made sure to arrive at 10am when the farms opened so that we'd get in . . . last weekend we had no such luck. It was soooooo cold, I definitely didn't bring enough clothes to keep LMM warm! Thankfully we had a blanket that he stayed wrapped in most of the day. He ended up keeping us warm when we held him! So the farms had a barn where they sold their organic veggies, a corn maze, pig races, potato guns, lots of interactive, kid-sized, farm activities (LMM can enjoy when he's older!), animals and a hayride. It was such a beautiful day to spend with our family. We then enjoyed some yummy hotdogs, rootbeer floats & cheese fries at Cony Island Hot Dogs in Brooksville. Normally we go out to dinner for each other's birthdays but Amanda and I thought this would be a fun alternative with LMM here and a way to make Mom's birthday extra special.





She deserves the world for all that she has been through and with how well she has managed to carry on. She has a bright future in store but I can't even begin to imagine how life would be like without my other half. And we've only been married not even 1/3 of the time they were. Having Toby this year has really helped me to understand & get closer to my mom. Being a mom is no joke and I have always heard people say that and agreed but until you are a mom, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. It's the greatest challenge and greatest joy of my life. And I'm blessed to have a mom who keeps truckin' and continues to teach us through what must be a very dark time. Sometimes you wouldn't even know she's newly widow with how much care, attention and love she gives everyone. (She's going to hate all this attention. . . Hi mom :) I'm certain this and the rest of the holidays are going to be challenging with Dad not here so I hope we can do as many new, fun and special things to help get everyone through. Toby has certainly entered our life at the perfect time and will get LOTS of kisses, snuggles and attention this year!

Today our Little Mitchell Man (LMM) is 4 weeks old! We have managed to keep him healthy and relatively happy for a whole month! We didn't kill him, he didn't kill us..... Though some nights I thought would never end! This is from August 7th, 4 days old.... A very late night feeding. The past 4 weeks he has gained 2+lbs and 2in for a grand total of 10lbs 14oz and 23in long. He has the sweetest little face that we fall in love with every day. Even when he cries it's so cute. He definitely has a Craig face, with my facial expressions! He has long fingers and toes like his dad. His skin is so soft and his hair is so fluffy after a bath. But quickly gets slicked down with the heat, poor thing is always on the warm side -which he gets from me - but it's better for him to be warm than cold. Some of my favorite expressions of his.... 35 by 35

I've decided to do a list of 35 things to do before my 35 birthday (10/14/2018). And I wanted to share it because some of you are really good cooks, work for or love local organizations I can attend or volunteer at, or have a book I should read. Part of this journey will be to live in community more so I would love your help and companionship as I map out 35 things to do this year. Some of these things I will do for the first time like paddle boarding or kyaking in the ocean but others are things that I don't do enough like going to shows or running.  Drink a vintage wine.  DONE Make a hollandaise sauce. Stretch goal, make all the mother sauces.  Take a cooking class. Make 1 new/challenging/exotic dish a month. Restart clean eating by doing it for 1 month. DONE Learn to make bread. Grow watermelon. Happy 4 Months Toby: Jumping, Laughing, Teething, Baptism & Thanksgiving

So we now have a 4 and a half month old baby! It's crazy!! Time seems to be flying by now that I'm back into work but we are still soaking in every moment with our Little Mitchell Man. I LOVE picking him up from daycare every day. Just hugging and snuggling him all weekend is the best time spent. So in our last month we were in a honeymoon period with LMM. He was through his growth spurts and was sleeping well. We've now hit into teething which is a real bear. Poor baby, there's nothing worse knowing that he's hurting. But we've got a good bag of tricks in the form of teething toys and homeopathic meds to help sooth LMM.  This past month he has been charming us all with his big smiles (and beautiful dimples), sticking his tounge out and rolling around. He had a Thanksgiving performance at school for which he was a turkey. Turned out he was a sleeping turkey on stage.
