2 Months with Toby: Naptime, Playtime, First Night Out!

So we have all managed to live 2 months together! We are finding our groove, feeling more like our new normal (eating dinner together and sometimes going to sleep at the same time!). I have been so surprised to see how quickly and easily the baby weight (and then some) just fell off - I hear it's thanks to breastfeeding. Hurray! As we feel more back to normal, everyday is something new with Toby. He is starting to coo and early talking, coupled with his smiles makes for such a fun time.

He has begun to sleep very well at night, getting up once most nights; sometimes twice. We started using the Babywise philosophy of Eat, Play, Sleep and that has made a world of difference for all of us. He's getting full feedings, then playing and napping. It is a "schedule" but we take each day as it comes. Sometimes he's hungry early and so we feed him - but in general we've noticed a much happier, well rested baby and mommy! He loves to be swaddled - these SwaddleMe blankets are the best for it! We were using blankets but this month he grew out of those and became strong enough to unwrap himself. . . . and that only leads to him flailing about and waking himself up.

His naps are getting shorter during the day as he is playing a lot more. He hits the toys on the activity mat, does tummy time, we read stories, go for walks, etc.

He's also starting to grab on to things! And, of course, pull them to his mouth.

Dustin and I did go out for the first time, to my sister's birthday party and left little man with his Grandma Craig. That seemed to go pretty well although he was fussy for an hour about going to sleep. They think he had to burp, my aunt got a burp out of him after like an hour but who knows - probably a combination of things. It's hard to tell someone else what you do but I'm sure everyone will learn and Toby will get more comfortable with everyone too.
Here Toby is mesmerized by his Great Uncle Careem. He just loved looking at him!
I go back to work in one month. I'm both looking forward to it and not. It will be nice to have help with him during the day - we are blessed that Dustin's mom, Nana April, will be watching him while I'm at work. But I know I will miss and worry about him anyway. It's also the busy season at work and one of my staff just moved - so I'm not really looking forward to what work is waiting for me - hopefully (and most likely) the team has kept things on track. Either way, we'll be ready for the holidays. Something I'm really looking forward to with Toby. . . . hahaha

Any ideas for a Christmas card for us? We could just do a picture of us but some people really do some creative things.

Anyway, we have time - just enjoying each day
with Toby as we all figure each other out.

 Happy 2 months Toby!!
